2018 Fashion Trendcast

2018 is coming in hot & heavy, and by that I mean freezing & fast. Looking past these first initial days that I'm sure we all filled with resolutions, meal preps, and a little taking advantage of those after Christmas sales, we now face a whole year of unknown. One of my favorite things to research is the upcoming trends, so I can plan my own looks and look forward to what fashion trends are coming this year. Through my research I thought it'd be fun to put together a trend forecast, "trendcast," if you will, for this fabulous year, so you can easily look over the predicted fashion staples that will be making a splash in 2018. Let's dive in.

Preferred Palette: Pastels

Check out Gigi Hadid walking the runway in this beautiful pastel pink dress by Tom Ford. She was followed by many other models wearing pastel from all different designers.

This comfy, chic onesie is one of Free People's new arrivals. Check out that classic, pastel pink. Athleisure is gonna be huge in 2018, but right now we're focusing on the color. Pastels and pales all year long, but especially this spring.

Color of the Year: Lavender

Beckham and Khan joined Ford in the pastel runway craze, but chose to put out lavender, as did many other designers. Elle.com published an entire segment just about how huge lavender is going to be this year, and based on the runway stats, I trust it. I'm also not complaining. Lavender is such a fun and fresh color. I can't wait for everyone to be rocking it this spring.

Free People's new arrivals also features the fab new color of the year in this super fun pullover. I know I want this piece in my closet, and the perfect purple just feels so spring.

Texture Time: Fringe

PHOTO FROM: Vogue

Many designers have been showing off fringe-covered pieces on the runway, but this highlight is an ultra-chic piece from Balmain. Designer brands are going crazy for texture. Although fringe has been mega-popular, pieces will several different textures are gaining attention. Keep an eye out when shopping for anything with different and multiple textures. It makes outfits more interesting!

This fierce cross-body bag just hit Urban Outfitter's new arrivals. Fringe is making a comeback, big time. On the runway, and in our fave stores. On our dresses and our bags. Really anyway you want to do texture is the right way. Outfits with texture are more fascinating to the eye, and now the buyer.

Shoes: Buckled Up

On the nicer side, these Balenciaga babies are to die for. They'll put quite the dent in your bank account, but are the ultimate shoe goals for 2018. Buckles are the latest shoe trend, and you'll be seeing them all over on all types of shoes. My personal favorite though is the buckle bootie.

This more affordable pair of buckle booties can be found at Zara. I am loving this edgy trend, and may need to get myself a pair before everybody catches on.

Fanny Packs? You mean, Belt Bags?

We all saw it coming. We knew fanny packs were inching their way back into style. Well, it's official. And they have a trendy new name too: belt bags. You can wear them the classic way, like Olivia Culpo here, or across your shoulder for an extra-chic vibe like the model below. If you're drooling over Olivia's look she Insta'd recently, you can snag yourself a Gucci belt bag.

If you're looking for a more affordable option when it comes to belt bags, there are plenty of cute choices. Take this plush Topshop belt bag from Nordstrom. This is also the other, newer way to sport your belt bag that differs from the traditional fanny pack fashion. If you're wanting to go above and beyond in the trend world this year, you gotta go get yourself a brand new belt bag for your street style.
